Best Steakhouse in Orlando?

Heading to Orlando for my father’s 65th birthday. He is a steakhouse junkie. Peter Luger’s is his fave but he also likes Capital Grille. I have seen reviews for Spice Modern and Kress. Leaning toward Kress but would love to hear from locals. Thanks.

Del Frisco’s, by far. Very old-school, Rat Pack-style class, with incredible steaks and sides. In addition to those steaks, the fried oysters are the best I’ve ever had, and the mandarin orange cake is one of the all-time greatest desserts anywhere, ever.

      I agree with Lou!

Also check out the bone in rib eye at A Land Remembered. If you go to restaurant .com you can get some really good deals for it. my favorite steak right now

Just to add another opinion, I’ve only thought Del Frisco’s was ok, but I don’t really dig any of the other steakhouses in town either. I will say that my opinion is in the minority in town and most others love it, so it might just be a matter of personal preference. I thought the steaks were nothing special and found the ambience a little too theme-y.

If your dad is a REAL steakhouse junkie, and you have a car, then I highly recommend the 1 hour drive to Tampa for Bern’s. It is a must-experience for anyone who loves classic steakhouses, and to top it off the dedicated dessert room finale is awesome. It is a long drive (especially home if you’ve had wine), but it is IMO the only really great steakhouse experience in Central Florida.

BTW, Spice is TERRIBLE, don’t do there. Kres in fine, but it is more interested in trying be hip than in delivering great food.

The best steak in town is actualy at a non-steakhouse – it’s at K.

Supposedly A Land Remembered sources their beef from the same people Bern’s does

          +1 for Bern’s.

Hint for anyone going to berns, When you make the reservation, ask to sit in Drews section. Get you reservation well in advance, they have been super busy as of late.

Thanks guys. We’ve been to Bern’s twice so looking for something different in Orlando area. Del Frisco’s sounds good.

PS: My father didn’t love Bern’s either of the 2 times we were there. Go figure! To each their own I guess.

Well then hopefully he’ll love Del Frisco’s as it is an important birthday! Good luck

Not from Orlando, but I have been to all the steakhouses there. I would say #1 in Orlando is Del Frisco. After that, I would rank Flemings or Cap Grille. Interesting comments about Bern’s….I have been going there 2-3 times a year since early 70’s, and I have to drive 5 hours to get there. As a matter of fact, I am driving to Tampa next weekend just to have dinner at Bern’s for my 63rd birthday. If he likes dry aged beef like Luger (as do I) then a side trip to Bern’s is worthwhile!!!

Thanks YosemiteSam! And Steakman55, go figure! We took the road trip twice with him from Miami to Bern’s and both times he said ‘meh.’ We’ll try this Del Frisco for sure and I will report back. Oh! And happy birthday to you, too!

Del Frisco buys their meat from Allen Brothers in Chicago. That alone will tell you that they serve a superior product.

I had a decent steak at shula’s 347 in lake mary. especially for the money, , we went early during the week and had a very pleasant experience. The service was great and the the side orders were no extra charge. I can see how this place might be a bit uncomfortable when crowded,, the table are too close together. If you go early this isn’t an issue. The steak was bone in ribeye that was cooked perfectly and had a nice marble texture.

Thanks to everyone who recommended Del Frisco’s. Took my dad for the big 6-5 on Saturday and he said it was one of the best steaks he’s had. I even heard a Peter Luger comparison in there, but that may have been the wine talking. No, really, he’s a steak snob and was highly impressed. Would definitely go back.
